Apply blur or pixelation effects
How to Use the Image Blur & Pixelate Tool
Upload an image, choose between blur or pixelate mode, adjust the intensity, and apply the effect. Download the processed image when you are satisfied with the result.
Effect Modes
- Blur — Applies a Gaussian blur using the CSS filter. The intensity slider controls the blur radius in pixels (1-30px).
- Pixelate — Creates a mosaic effect by reducing the image to large pixel blocks. The intensity slider controls the block size (1-50px).
Common Use Cases
Use blur or pixelation to censor sensitive information in screenshots, create background effects for designs, or anonymize faces and license plates in photos.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between blur and pixelate?
Blur creates a smooth, out-of-focus effect by blending neighboring pixels. Pixelation creates a blocky mosaic effect by replacing groups of pixels with a single color.
Can I blur just part of the image?
This tool applies the effect to the entire image. For selective blur, crop the area you want to blur, apply the effect, and composite it back in an image editor.
Is the effect reversible?
No. Both blur and pixelation permanently remove detail from the image. Always keep your original image file before applying effects.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device.
